About The Modern Museum

What is the Modern Museum?

When was the last time you went to a museum? For some people, it might be a part of their daily routine, but for most, especially those who are in college or just getting into the workforce, don't have the money or time to even think about going to a museum. According to artnet.com, a survey was recently done in February 2022 that revealed the average attendance for museums was 62 percent, and has not risen since. Since the impact of COVID 19, museums have been struggling to get their number of visitors back up. But what if you can access a variety of art and information at your fingertips? Well, that is what this webpage is for. It's a place where art enthusiasts and people curious about art can come and connect with like-minded individuals, while simultaneously being able to visit an exhibit any time of the day. Through extensive research of the art world, at the Modern Museum, you not only can see and learn about new artists, but learn more about historical, important artwork in digital form.

What makes art art? Why is it important?

From cave paintings to marble sculptures, art has played an important role in people's lives.  It is a way to not only express yourself, but to tell stories from different parts of the world and past experiences. It is the central aspect of what makes humans human because no other animal in the world has the ability to express themselves in such a creative and impactful way. Art can not only tell stories from the past, but can be very healing for people. Doing such a creative activity can improve brain function, reduce stress, and also be able to connect with people through your artwork. So what makes art art? Can anything be art? The answer is YES! Anything from huge professional paintings to the doodles you do on your sketchbook is art, there really is no definition of what makes art art. But the most important art is the type that makes you feel something, something that invokes an emotion deep inside you and to be able to really connect with the artist/artwork. Really good pieces also push the boundaries of what is normal in the art world and is something that makes you stop and think. That is what really good pieces do and that is hopefully what the artwork featured here will do.
